Ann Eustace

BIPOLAR ROLLER COASTER*

She waited to see what would happen
She had been in the trough of a block mood
But now was starting to climb
Her private car was on the track
The higher and higher she went
The more she could see of the world.
Surely this time she would stay on top
And not plummet to the bottom.
She could feel her emotions grip to normal
as the car lifted on the upward way.
She was bubbling in her happiness.
But now the car began to roll toward the bottom.
It gathered speed and she could not stop it.
Would she ever be a normal person?
