A Journal of Disability Poetry

Volume 3     Issue 4     December 2009

Essays This Issue

This issue of Wordgathering contains three essays - a continuation of a previous essay and two new ones. In Part 2 of "The Deepening Fog" Paul Kahn picks up where he left on in the autobiographical essays describing the family influences that propelled him to become a writer. In a very different sort of essay, John Lee Clark makes a strong case for his contention that writers with disabilities are best when the write about disability. Finally, Marie Kane gets down to the nitty gritty of how to improve poetry through editing with a deconstruction of one of her own poems.

Wordgathering is always seeking new essays in the field of disability poetry. The three very diverse essays in this issue are outstanding examples of the kind of work the editors look for. Readers interested in submitting their work should check the submission guidelines on this website.
