A Journal of Disability Poetry and Literature

Volume 12     Issue 4     December 2018

Interviews and Essays in this Issue

In this issue Wordgathering offers two interviews and three essays. The interviews are with Kate Fialkowski, the Director of Academic Programs at Temple University's Institute on Disability and poet Gais Thomas, who was recently one of the presenters at the University of Pennsylvania's symposium "The New Disability Poetics".

Each of the three essays displays a different facet of disability writing. Michael Uniacke's essay satirizes an attempt to convert football cheers into the Australian sign language known as Auslan. Susan Mockler's essay chronicles a personal life experience. Daniel Simpson's essay gives his impressions of the recently disability poetics symposium mentioned above where he was both a reader and a member of the audience.

Wordgathering is always open suggestions for people in the field of disability literature to interview. The journal is also open to new essays that make a contribution to disability literature. Please check the journal Submission Guidelines. Queries can be addressed to comments@wordgathering.com.
